Our Story

A Decade of Ideas. Built on the Belief that Better is Possible.

The Human Imperative began with a simple conviction: that by making time to be human first, we create the conditions for real change.

​

Over nearly a decade of practice, research, and experiential learning, that conviction became a methodology. One that allows leaders and individuals to realign their relationship with themselves and the world around them in ways that are lasting, not cosmetic.

​

At the same time, the pace of disruption made something else clear. A better future requires better leaders. Not optimized ones. Not more productive ones. Leaders who know who they are, lead from that place, and have the courage to build something truer than what came before.​

​

That is the work. And it requires rebellion - the quiet, deliberate kind. The willingness to challenge what we have been told leadership looks like and to choose our own narrative instead.​

​

​​We believe that by changing ourselves, we truly can change the world.

​

Meet the Team

We met in an impromptu interview that neither of us planned. There was no way to know then that the chance encounter would lead us here.

Anne Winn

Founder & CEO

I have spent nearly two decades helping people see what they couldn't see alone and believe what they were too afraid to believe about themselves.

​

My career has carried me through non-profits, higher education, corporate, and consulting. I've found that the same patterns exist everywhere, working with executives navigating complexity, innovators building from nothing, and achievers whose accomplishments never satisfy. The common theme is this - they came carrying something heavy, and they left lighter. Relieved.

​

The transformative power of holding space and being present for people has taught me a lot about how we metabolize challenge into opportunities.  I've learned what unlocks leadership and what I call "how to think." My gift is seeing people, not the performance, not the title, but the person underneath.

​

I create conditions for vision building, intention, alignment, and taking the first (hardest) step. I don't give answers, I help people see with enough clarity to build a path forward.

​

The Human Imperative is the culmination of my work. It is based on the philosophy built by a lifetime of observation, education, and practice. It is my response to dehumanization and compels me to fight for people. It exists because I finally found my own courage to share it... because of the people who see and believe in me. â€‹â€‹

​

I am a master clarifier and an advocate. My gift is unlocking potential in people, helping them see and claim what is uniquely theirs to contribute, and finding the courage to share it with the world.

​

I believe that humans collide at the intersections. Innovation, breakthrough, and real change don't happen in isolation. They happen at the edges, in the spaces where different perspectives meet and where someone asks the question no one else thought to ask. That is where I do my best work.

​

My career spans change management, innovation, and communications. I have worked alongside leaders and organizations navigating complexity, building environments where people feel genuinely seen, heard, and capable of contributing at their highest level.

​

Along the way I've learned that asking the right questions matters more than having the right answers, that diverse perspectives are not a nice-to-have but a prerequisite, and that a sense of humor is not just essential to building inclusive environments, it is essential to staying human in the work.

What matters most to me is helping people see their way to "the how." When people are truly empowered to show up as themselves, everything becomes possible.​

Rehumanization

To rehumanize our systems, our organizations, and our ways of engaging by reshaping mental models that govern how we lead, decide, and treat one another. â€‹The uniquely human skills like emotional intelligence, imagination, compassion, genuine connection, are not soft. They are the most important capabilities we have. And they have been neglected long enough.

Through the reinvigoration of these uniquely human skills, we will inspire individuals, communities, and organizations to strive for inclusivity and perspective diversity. We will foster momentum and empower people to champion transformative change.​

Challenge the Status Quo

We will confront barriers and biases that keep people performing instead of becoming and model the courage to believe that just because it is the way things are, doesn't mean that is the way it has to be.

​It is from this place that we will empower ourselves and others to build something more authentic and human in its place.

Develop Future Ready Leaders

We will empower people to drive systemic change needed to shape a brighter future, enabled by connection, creativity, collaboration, and compassion. We will help people learn to lead from the inside out, not through competency frameworks or performance optimization, but through self-knowledge, restored courage, and the willingness to become who they were always meant to be.

 

Our purpose is grounded in the pursuit of a future where everyone has the opportunity to thrive. We will develop the leaders to take us there.
