Why an Imperative?

At The Human Imperative (HX), we believe that transformation begins within. Our philosophy is the bedrock beneath everything we build, every conversation we have, and every person we serve.

The deliberate erosion of our humanity is accelerating, and most of what passes for progress is making it worse. This has been compounded by how we have allowed the systematic atrophy of our uniquely human skills.

These skills take time to develop; the time to begin is now.

Our Mission

Education ✦ Development ✦ Activism

01.

Rehumanization

Emotional intelligence, imagination, compassion, and genuine connection are not soft skills. They are the most important capabilities we have, and they have been neglected long enough.

We will rehumanize the systems, organizations, and ways of engaging that govern how we lead, decide, and engage with one another.

02.

Challenge the Status Quo

Just because it is the way things are, doesn't mean that is the way it has to be.

We will confront the barriers and biases that keep people performing instead of becoming and model the courage to believe that something better is not only possible but necessary.

From this place, we build something more authentic and human in its place.

03.

Develop Future-Ready Leaders

The world needs leaders courageous enough to do the work of intentional evolution.

We develop leaders who lead from the inside out, through self-knowledge and the willingness to become who they were always meant to be.

We will navigate change and shape a brighter future through connection, creativity, collaboration, and compassion.

Our mission is to reclaim and develop the human capabilities that have been neglected, and to challenge the systems, narratives, and ways of thinking that keep people from becoming who they were meant to be. We pursue this mission through three commitments that ground everything we build, teach, and stand for.

We envision a more connected, creative, and collaborative world where people are free to think in terms of possibility, live with greater intention and meaning, and imagine, believe in, and pursue better for humanity.

We believe this begins when individuals reclaim the uniquely human capabilities that empower people to reclaim their agency and their time, so they can align with their truest selves.

Our Vision

Core Convictions

Returning to our shared humanity is the path.

  1. Humanity is not a liability. In a world of human design, we cannot become obsolete.

  2. Self-awareness is not enough. The most important thing you can know is what you don't know. Self-knowledge requires intention.

  3. Uniquely human skills are your true intelligence. Human capabilities like empathy, imagination, and connection are the true hard skills.

  4. Transformation begins within. The only person you have the power to change is yourself.

  5. When you change, everything around you changes. It starts with perspective that powers the chain reaction that follows.

  6. Be Human First. Before any interaction, any decision, any system, remember that you are a human and they are a human. Start there.

Values Framework

Leadership and Courage make our work possible.

Knowing that they do not work on their own, the activating ideals of connection, learning, imagination, and belief deepen our understanding of how to remain in alignment with our mission and vision through our values.

Leadership

Leadership is not power; it is empowerment. The way we lead must evolve. Ego, positional authority, and pretending have no place here. The capacity to care, humility, and the ability to see people will define the future of leadership. Those who inspire and cultivate trust will light the way.

Courage

Small acts of bravery become courage. We believe in challenging the status quo, standing in our power, and standing up for what is right. Courage is not just about being different; it is about recognizing that living authentically is essential. It is the source of strength to face challenges with resolve.
